Supplies

I decided to clean out my old crafting supplies and found a bunch of unused patterns and books. Therefore, I have decided to sell them on Zibbet so someone else can get some use out of them. =D

It's ALIVE!

So before Glitter Girl there was Rancid Bunny. I thought I was done with it, but lately I have been selling old stock and getting requests for more. Therefore, I have decided to bring some of it back as *internet exclusives* under the GG name instead.I will be also selling GG swag for those who are interested. I will probably bring back the "Big Girl Panties", "Why must we always question the motives of chickens?" and a few others that were in high demand.  Mind, it isn't ALL coming back, but if there is enough request it might.

Our Meeting

The holiday craft planning meeting went great, though longer than expected.  That's what happens when you put gabby women in the same room (Me being the gabbiest one of all =D ).  We came up with some ideas and got a flyer together to distribute.

Holiday Projects

So here is the scoop so far: I will be meeting with Nicole from Nicole's Visions tomorrow morning to discuss some holiday promotion ideas to pass on the savings to those in our community! So far, we had the idea of hosting parties where we would give host discounts and such much like Scentsy or Avon would.  We have also talked about possibly setting up at the courthouse close to Christmas.  I am really looking forward to this venture, not just as a way to sell, but as a way to network with other crafters!  I will post more info as it is known.

Creativity Abound!

Today I made the tops for several hats, but my biggest accomplishment was making my kitchen counters look all zebra print.  Eventually, I want an entire zebra print accent wall in the kitchen but I have to it bit by bit as the paint takes FOREVER to dry so I have to be able to cook!  Ok, so I cheated today and got a Digorno pizza but still!  I need the OPTION of cooking =D I am so happy I have an understanding husband lol!

Humble Beginnings

Thought I should go ahead and explain the origins of Glitter Girl Accessories, so here goes:

I grew up in a crafty family.  My father, Knots&More; and my mother, Artzy Susie worked the shows from Wenatchee to Collville and everywhere in between. I went along, selling various arts and crafts, and helping with setup and tear down.  Therefore, it was only natural that I would continue crafting into my adult life.  However, I never thought about turning crafting into my primary business until this year.  In March, I was diagnosed with MS - a debilitating neurological disease that effects thousands of people every year.  By fall, my symptoms had left my life too unpredictable to hold a steady nine to five anymore.  Prior to this, I had been a caregiver for nearly four years.  Leaving what I love and the people I had grown to see as family was very hard, but it also was the push I needed to follow in the family tradition and start doing the shows.  I began crafting like I had never crafted before, bought an RV with my husband and went to it.  Thus was the birth of Glitter Girl.  The name was nothing more than a declaration of my love for all things shiny =D

So there you have it.  Glitter Girl was what I needed to do - as I am sure many other artists have felt about their art.  And I really do hope you enjoy what came out of it!

Internet Activities

So I have been very productive today!  I joined several link sharing sites to promote Glitter Girl.  Most importantly I have become a member of MerchantCircle.com.  If you have a business profile there, check me out.  I posted a widget link to my profile on there.  I have also taken some more photos of stuff to put on Zibbet!

My Experience

So this has nothing to do with Glitter Girl, but I really felt the need to post this:

So, it has taken me a while to post this because it moved me so much I had to sit with it a bit and figure out how to convey the profound nature of it.  I was approached by someone, his name is of no consequence, on Monday.  He was one of my former high school bullies.  Arguably one of the worst.  He sat next to me and explained how much he has regretted how he treated people back then.  He explained that he wants to be remembered for doing good and not for the hateful things he used to do.  We talked a bit, and at the end we shook hands and wished eachother a Merry Christmas.  I have been thinking about this conversation all week, especially since EMHE will be airing their anti-bullying episode tonight.  I wonder what would happen if every student could have this same experience.  If just one of their bullies would come to them with sincerety and honesty and ask for forgiveness? Would it have saved the lives of the suicides who were so low they thought this was their only way out?  Would it make the cutter put down the razor?  Or the drug user quit using?  Maybe so, maybe not, but I know it has restored my faith that IT DOES GET BETTER and someday these kids who bully others will realize that their actions were wrong.  I don't know.  I mean, I hope so.

Busy Bee

I have been a very busy bee today!  I even burned my poor finger on the glue gun!  To be honest, I wasn't sure the sheer one would work out but it did and I am so proud.

Rings!

I made some rings today. I didn't make them for sale, I just made them for me for fun.  I might branch off into rings, though, if the interest is high enough.  Feedback anyone?

Went out, bought some new fabric, more felt, and some feathers and went crazy!

My Workspace Tonight!

Made a bunch of new hats tonight.  This is how my work space looked by about 11pm! But I managed to make about 7 new hats which should be up tomorrow night after I get some good photos of them.
